Responsibilities

  • You will be working within the Court of Protection (COP) team within Irwin Mitchell.
  • This team is responsible for assisting people after accidents or clinical negligence, and those who may be suffering with degenerative illnesses, where people can no longer manage their own property and financial affairs.
  • We help ensure that they cannot be exploited or denied what is rightfully theirs.
  • The Court also regulates people approved to look after the property and financial affairs of vulnerable individuals.
  • At Irwin Mitchell, we assist with a range of circumstances affecting people under the Court’s jurisdiction.
  • You will be supporting the Birmingham Court of Protection Team and managing large medical negligence or Personal Injury damages awards in order to meet the client’s needs.
  • You’ll be based in our Birmingham office working alongside lawyers based in our Birmingham office predominantly within your team.
  • As you progress through your apprenticeship, you will build a portfolio of the experience you have gained and the tasks you have completed in the workplace.
  • You will spend the majority of time in your own department with the possibility of also working elsewhere for some of the programme to gain exposure to other parts of Irwin Mitchell.
