  • To be considered for an intern position, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Studying for a Master's, Bachelor's level degree or diploma in Mechanical engineering;
  • A genuine interest in engineering design related to tunnel ventilation, fire protection, egress analysis, computational fluid dynamics, or other fire and life safety related field;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Organized and a self starter;
  • Effective in verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • In this position, you will be working as part of an engineering team, assisting with tasks such as:
  • Update 3D BIM (building information modeling), CFD (computational fluid dynamics), egress models as needed;
  • Assist in engineering calculations such as pressure drop calculations, noise calculations, jet fan thrust calculations, NFPA 130 egress calculations;
  • Review and update engineering reports;
  • Understand and apply Industry standards as applicable such as NFPA 130 and NFPA 502;
  • Attend weekly team meetings;
  • Support engineers in daily tasks as needed.
