Requirements

  • Graduate degree in material science, physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, or equivalent required
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and tasks to deliver commitments by deadlines
  • Experience in optical, thermal, mechanical, and magnetic aspects of HAMR technology is a plus
  • Capable of quickly learning new systems, tools, and methodologies
  • Knowledge in HDD tribology and media tribology is a plus
  • Strong knowledge in statistical analysis

Responsibilities

  • Design and carryout DOEs to investigate media design variables impact to hard drive interface, tribology issues, and head lifetime
  • Examine laser and thermal impact to head/media interface, including lubricant and carbon overcoat
  • Analyze data and preform reliability evaluation for HDD interface
  • Data-mining and statistical analysis of media process, design, performance data, be sensitive to various designs and enablers changes
  • Participate in significant technical investigations
