Requirements

  • Students actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university college seeking a degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Human Resources, or a recent graduate.
  • Must be available for full-time hours (Monday – Friday) and for the length of the entire internship of 12 weeks, mid-May until mid-August.
  • Ability to create clear and engaging reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to collaborate with team member and engage with manager is a supportive manner.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access software; Knowledge of Workforce Management (WFM) software is a plus.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  • Provide crucial maintenance support of the labor standards program.
  • Provide Industrial Engineering support to the stores that are lagging in their attainment rates. This would include methods and procedural issues, store profile audits, tasks requirements, etc.
  • Develop, test, and implement various process improvements within the stores.
  • Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
  • Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
  • Develops management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
  • Work closely with store management teams to contribute to the overall productivity improvement initiative.
  • Regularly and reliably work when scheduled and perform essential job functions throughout the required time period. This would include normal business hours, extended hours, and overnight/weekend work and travel when required.
  • Perform special assignments and projects as requested by Management
  • Understand, effectively communicate, implement, and abide by Company policies, procedures, concepts, and programs.
  • Practice Positive Associate Relations. Be sensitive to the needs and concerns of associates. Treat all associates in a fair and consistent manner while fostering trust, respect, and integrity throughout the Company.
