Responsibilities

  • In your role as intern photographer, you will go on news and portraiture assignments for the WSJ team, ranging from business coverage to breaking news to features. You will be required to think creatively and produce visual narratives for complex stories, following your brief in detail and filing quickly with accurate captions.
  • As intern photo editor, you will produce and build visual assets for news stories and enterprise content with attention to detail in a fast-paced newsroom, anticipating photographic needs as stories develop. You will be expected to deliver photos for breaking news and live news coverage, conduct social media research, and may be expected to assign freelance work. You will be building stories in our CMS, conducting research using various photo wire agencies. You will collaborate with other photo editors, visual colleagues, reporters and editors across the newsroom. You will also have the opportunity to pitch visually innovative and original approaches to stories and to collaborate with the audience and platform teams on social strategy and distribution of WSJ content.
