Requirements

  • Proficiency with database and analysis tools such as Excel
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills
  • Team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work environment
  • Must be currently working toward a bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
  • What is preferred:
  • An educational emphasis on energy efficiency and/or energy experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with power systems software (i.e., PSSE, PSCAD, TSAT, etc.)
  • Preference for upperclassmen (rising junior to senior)

Responsibilities

  • This position will work closely with the DNV project execution team and members of our Partner organizations. The DNV’s Power Systems Advisory department is executing a project Enabling HVDC Transmission and Offshore Wind via the Creation of HVDC Standards and Benchmark System Models funded by the Department of Energy
  • You will gain hands-on experience with critical issues facing the energy industry today while actively contributing to creating solutions. You will work closely with DNV engineers and team from our project Partners (NREL, GE Research, and UTSA). You will also have the opportunity to interact with industry stakeholders and have exposure to other industry leaders.
  • Tasks may include:
  • Support research, review, and identification of standards and gaps in Reliability, Technical, and Interoperability Standards for HVDC transmission
  • Support Stakeholder engagement during Standards inventory collection
  • Develop draft text for new or changed standards (i.e., FERC, NERC, IEEE, or other standards bodies)
  • Collect feedback from industry stakeholders on draft standards
  • Support development and validation of the benchmark models and associated use cases for Offshore Wind (in Siemens PTI’s PSS/E and PowerTech Labs’ TSAT)
