Requirements

  • - significant laboratory experience, preferably as a technologist or pre-registration scientist in a Genomics Laboratory.
  • - sound knowledge of human genetics and genomics and the ability to critically analyse and interpret scientific data
  • - a high degree of accuracy and precision in working practice
  • - awareness of relevant technical and scientific developments
  • - excellent communication skills to ensure effective team-working, including with external service users
  • - an understanding of quality control / quality assurance procedures
  • - self-motivation and good time management to undertake portfolio submission for HCPC registration whilst contributing to service delivery
  • - Experience in a scientific laboratory
  • - Experience in data analysis, interpretation and/or report writing
  • - To have the knowledge and experience necessary to participate in the provision of a diagnostic clinical service.
  • - To keep abreast of current understanding of general aspects and develop more specialist knowledge in the discipline.

Responsibilities

  • - You will join our Rare and Inherited Disease team who are committed to patient-centered service provision through accurate and timely data analysis, interpretation and reporting of genomic test results.
  • - Rare and Inherited Disease covers a wide range of different tests and technologies and you will have the opportunity to be involved, under supervision, in service delivery in multiple areas of the department.
  • - Attention to detail is essential to ensure that patient results are delivered in a safe and effective way.
  • - You will be involved in liaising with other healthcare professionals to maintain a high-quality patient-centred service.
  • - A flexible and co-operative approach to work and learning is essential and you will be expected to use your own initiative to maximise opportunities for meeting the standards and competencies required for HCPC registration.
