What is the duration of the Summer Quality Internship program?
The Summer Quality Internship program is 12 weeks long, starting at the end of May and running through early August.
Where is the internship located?
The internship is located onsite at our Columbus, Ohio headquarters.
Are internships paid, and do you provide housing?
The internship is a paid position; however, Worthington Steel is not responsible for providing supplemental housing for students.
What kind of projects will interns work on?
Interns will work on business-focused projects related to data analysis, problem-solving, quality issues, running root cause analysis, and other quality-related projects.
What is the focus of the community service component?
The community service component includes activities such as volunteering; last year interns spent a day at Goodwill Columbus.
What majors are preferred for this internship?
Desired majors include Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar areas of study.
What skills are required for the internship?
Required skills include proficiency in MS Office, strong analytical and statistical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently and learn through hands-on experience.
Will interns receive any additional training during the program?
Yes, interns will participate in classes covering topics such as business etiquette, resume writing, interviewing skills, and presenting with confidence.
Is travel required during the internship?
Yes, interns should have the ability to travel to manufacturing sites as part of their responsibilities.
What kind of experience will interns gain?
Interns will gain on-the-job experience, develop their professional networks, and learn practical skills in quality management and process improvement.
