  • Wireless technologies are a crucial part of Facebook Reality Lab Device Technology Engineering team. As the wireless system architecture team, we study the performance of future AR/VR products in complicated radio and network conditions and gain insights for system design. We utilize the latest developments in the wireless industry to develop AR/VR products with wireless capabilities and work towards areas to optimize facebook’s AR/VR use experiences for both short term and long term. We are looking for interns who have a deep understanding of wireless technology, are familiar with wireless system design, and have proven analysis and innovation capabilities.


  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in Wireless Communications or related field Deep knowledge of communication system theory and wireless fundamentals
  • Proficient and experience in simulation in C/C++, Matlab, NS3 or Python
  • Familiarity of 5G (NR) and 4G (LTE) technologies or Connectivity technologies (WiFi/BT/UWB/others)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Knowledge and experience in microwave theory, antenna fundamentals and RF wireless communication and network fundamentals
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
  • Cloud/AR/QoS w.r.t. wireless research background
  • Understanding of consumer hardware development including RF, antenna, power/thermal constraint
