Requirements

  • B.S. degree, completed or in progress, in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience with database development or automation of reporting
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with developing, conducting and evaluating engineering tests
  • Experience with physical security detection and delay technologies
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of one's self and others
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
  • Physical Conditions:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Infrequently ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts and the like
  • Infrequently moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Develop material accounting system for fuel fabrication and test reactor facilities that automates reporting to the Nuclear Materials and Management Safeguards System (NMMSS)
  • Document recommendations related to securing the material accounting system
  • Document future work needed to accommodate international safeguards reporting using the material accounting system
  • Interface with NMMSS staff as needed to validate the reporting features of the material accounting system
  • Write testing plans and summarize results for internal distribution
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Facilities Teams to conduct demonstration testing
  • Document recommendations related to technology selection and future demonstrations
  • Interface with national laboratory staff to conduct and evaluate demonstration testing
