What activities will I be involved in as a Shop Volunteer?
As a Shop Volunteer, you will be involved in activities such as using the shop till to take payments, promoting Gift Aid, helping and advising customers, sorting donations, and creating exciting window displays.
Do I need any previous experience to volunteer?
No previous experience is needed. Full training will be provided prior to starting.
What skills do I need to be a successful volunteer?
You should have a warm smile, a friendly outlook, and a willingness to learn.
How many hours do I need to commit to volunteering?
There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours. You can volunteer for a few hours during the week or weekend as agreed with the shop manager.
Are there any age restrictions for volunteers?
There may be some locations where we won’t be able to host volunteers aged 15-17. Please get in touch to find a suitable volunteering opportunity.
What are the benefits of volunteering at the British Red Cross shop?
Benefits include meeting new people, gaining or passing on retail experience, using or gaining new skills, reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses, and being part of a humanitarian organization making a positive difference in people's lives.
Can I receive reimbursement for my travel expenses?
Yes, reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses for the role, including for training, will be covered.
