Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited accounting, commerce, or business undergraduate program at a post-secondary institution, with the intention to obtain a CPA designation.
  • Available for 8-month co-op term (September 2024 - April 2025)
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direction and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to be proactive thinking several steps ahead to understand and address needs.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with pressing deadlines and constantly changing conditions.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and leadership ability.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Support and facilitate the quarterly and annual reporting process for Sun Life Financial and Sun Life Assurance, including preparation of the data for the Financial Statements and Notes, Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), and the Supplementary.
  • Support the data-driven aspect within financial reporting process across Corporate Finance teams to meet key reporting deliverables and ensure accuracy of the financial information.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders across Corporate Finance and Business Groups to understand changing business requirements and deliver on their needs.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities in our reporting processes and provide recommendations to eliminate manual recurring processes.
  • Learn about Sun Life's financial reporting and business processes and use best-in-class tools to complete quarter-ends.
  • Other ad-hoc requests/projects as required.
