Requirements

  • What you’ll need
  • New insights, perspectives and diversity of thought are all invaluable to us, which is why you don’t need to have studied IT to join us in a Technology internship. To be considered for these internship roles you will need to:
  • Be a penultimate year student, studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in any subject), with one year of study remaining after the internship
  • Be intending to return to university for your final year of study after the placement
  • Be available to work full time (35 hours per week) for the full duration of the internship (2nd July - 6th September 2024)
  • Have right to work in the UK for the duration of the internship whether that be on a permanent basis, or with a visa that would allow you to work 35 hours per week. We are unable to offer sponsorship for anyone requiring sponsorship by Aviva due the roles not meeting the requirements set out by the home office.
  • And have:
  • A genuine passion for change, innovation and continual improvement
  • An analytical mind and talent for problem solving
  • An eagerness to question existing ways of doing things
  • The ability to explain the complex clearly and be a confident communicator
  • A love of learning and the drive to keep developing yourself
  • Our summer internships are designed to be a feeder into our Graduate Programmes. After completion of the internship successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to return to us as a permanent graduate in September 2025 so we look for candidates who are interested in not only getting summer experience, but also those who are also looking to secure a future permanent role.

Responsibilities

  • What does it involve?:
  • Our Tech Change Delivery roles are suited to people who are naturally curious — big picture thinkers who enjoy identifying and solving problems, creating innovative new solutions and who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo. If you enjoy planning and organising and you like to influence thinking and the way things are donethis route could be a good match for you.
  • During your internship you’ll be aligned to a team and enabled to work with colleagues on live initiatives that have real business impact. Our Tech Change Delivery internship roles are:
  • Business Analyst (Norwich or York) — our Business Analysts help us understand the customer and business needs we need to meet — and what’s required to deliver the practical solutions to meet them. If you’re the kind of person who can explain complex concepts and problems in a simple way, this is the place for you. You’ll analyse and evaluate business opportunities and identify areas for improvement. And in everything you do, you’ll champion the use of technology to improve how we do things for our 18.7 million customers and thousands of colleagues.
  • Project Manager (Norwich or York) — our Project Managers are experts in organising both themselves and others! They’re comfortable taking the lead, yet make sure everyone is heard. With a passion for delivering great customer service and a mix of people and planning skills, our Project Managers are just the people to make sure everything gets done in the right way, at the right time and on budget.
  • Risk Analyst (Norwich) — management of risk plays an important role across all our change deliveries and day-to-day operations. It ensures we’re keeping our technology, our colleagues and, ultimately, our 18.7 million customers safe. As a Risk Analyst you will work with technical and non-technical teams to ensure risks (uncertainties, potential threats) are identified, assessed and have appropriate action plans in place (and managed!) to reduce or remove risk and ensure safe and successful delivery. You’ll have similar skills and strengths to Project Managers and Business Analysts and will be comfortable being curious and inquisitive, collaborating across teams and analysing and identifying areas for improvement.
  • You will also be a confident communicator who can explain complex concepts clearly and concisely. Whichever opportunity you take, the breadth of experience and the variety of skills you can gain is immense. The work you do will be interesting and challenging. And you’ll do it with the full support of our brilliant change & technology community.
  • Your application will be for the whole pathway. We ask you to keep an open mind about role preferences because, throughout the recruitment process, we’ll be looking to understand which role we think will suit you best. That said, if you have a preference, you can let us know.

Application Process

  • Start by pressing 'apply' to be taken through to our online application.
  • There, you'll be asked to complete a short questionnaire about your motivations, and submit it along with a copy of your CV.
  • If you match our criteria (or get pretty close), we’ll ask you to complete our online Situational Strengths test.
  • Pass that and next will be a video interview.
  • The final stage is a virtual assessment day, with tasks that enable you to show us what you're good at and what you enjoy.
  • Impress us there and we'll offer you a role to start in July 2024.
