Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; be considered a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
  • Pursuing a degree in political science, economics, public policy, communications, or related fields
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, proactive attitude, and desire to seize opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including social media
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
  • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus
  • AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of tasks depending on the project, research, and communications needs of Thought Leadership
  • Identify and research thought leaders across numerous industries
  • Draft social media copy based on existing Thought Leadership reports
  • Stay up to date on trending issues across industries as it relates to longevity and equity
  • Event support, including assisting in logistics surrounding global thought leadership events
  • Write, proof, or fact-check reports
  • Provide administrative support
