What is the duration of the Trainee DBT Therapist position?
The position is a 2-year fixed term appointment leading to a permanent post if the postgraduate diploma programme is completed successfully and full accreditation is awarded.
What qualifications are required to apply for this role?
Candidates should have relevant core professional training such as Practitioner Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Psychotherapist, or Mental Health Nurse. Those with training as clinical associate psychologists or substantial experience in DBT-informed working may also be eligible.
Is there a training component involved in this position?
Yes, there is a two-year DBT training program with University College London (UCL) that candidates must attend while providing psychological interventions in the service.
What is the weekly commitment for training during the 2-year course?
The post-holder must attend 70-80 days of training over the 2 years, including a day per week and 5-day intensive teaching blocks.
What are the expectations regarding service user interaction?
The post-holder must have experience working with service users experiencing mental health problems and the ability to form effective and safe therapeutic relationships with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages.
Can I apply if I am currently working in another role within the NHS?
Successful candidates will be ineligible for NHS-E funding for other listed trainings during the two-year training period.
