The ideal candidate for the Verification & Validation - Data Science Internship/Co-op at Zoox should be working towards a PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, with a strong background in statistical modeling and analysis. They should also have experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques, proficiency in Python, and preferably have experience with Spark, large-scale data analysis, SQL, and working with large datasets. Additionally, strong communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively, are important.

The candidate will analyze and identify weaknesses in Zoox's perception system, collaborate with other data scientists and engineers, and define performance metrics to measure the impact of new features on the overall system behavior.
