Requirements

  • Familiarity with MacOS and Windows operating systems
  • Ability/desire to learn the basics of other operating systems, like Linux
  • Familiarity with computer hardware concepts, such as hard drives, memory, processors, etc
  • Familiarity with mobile devices such as the iPad and iPhone and mobile operating systems like iOS
  • Familiarity with some artist tools and workflows, such as image manipulation software, animation tools, video editing programs, etc
  • Passionate about helping others with technology
  • Education:
  • Currently enrolled or graduated within the past six months from an accredited college/university, earning a degree majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Am I Eligible?
  • At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
  • Must provide full work availability.
  • Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are May/June - August/September 2024. Interns must be fully available for the duration of a 12-week assignment.
  • Please note the safety and well-being of our teams is very important to us. Based on government recommendations, we will determine whether this program will be in-person at our Burbank, CA studio or virtual in the coming months.

Responsibilities

  • The Desktop Services team provides tech support to the studio, as well as drives the engineering behind our user-device experience. Desktop Services is made up of our Helpdesk, which provides front-line support; our Systems Operations (“SysOps”) team, which provides support for hardware device configuration and installation; and our Desktop Engineering team, which specializes in the desktop experience for our many user workflows in the building or working remotely. The teams are made up of Technical Support Engineers (TSEs), Systems Administrators, and System Engineers.
  • Recent efforts the Desktop Services team has driven include major updates to our high-end user desktop computer systems, improvements to our work-from-home systems that enable artists to securely access workstations within our studio environment, and assisting with the rollout of major computer OS version updates.
  • As a team-based intern, you will join the Desktop Services team to participate in the team’s daily processes. You will work closely with the team manager, as well as the team members, to learn and assist with various support tasks, as well as larger projects and initiatives related to the user desktop experience within the animation studio. By the end of the term, you will be intimately familiar with WDAS and many of its inner workings.
  • The ideal candidate would have a general interest in technology and a passion for helping others but also be interested in a relevant area of study, like computer science, engineering, or animation.
