Responsibilities

  • You will be part of a large team and will be responsible for the issue and receipt of all weapons and ancillaries, including the safe custody and security of all items held within the Armoury.
  • Ensuring all issues and receipts of weapons are carried out as per policy requirements.
  • Updating, maintenance and cleanliness of the working area, also updating the issue sheet and replacing identification labels.
  • Inputting of fault reporting sheets onto a computer programme.
  • Aiding customers with queries and answering questions.
  • Working with various staff and stakeholders, so effective communication and organisation skills are required.
  • Updating information on various computer applications and programmes.
  • A regular requirement for working outside of normal working hours including weekends subject to the business needs.
  • There will be occasions when you will work as a lone worker.
  • On a roster basis, act as Duty Storekeeper for a 7-day period inclusive, the applicant must be able to be at Infantry Training Centre (ITC) within 30 minutes of receiving a call out from the Guardroom. This is to ensure that the weapons are returned to and secured within the Armoury following a shoot and recruits are not left waiting outside the Armoury for long periods of time. The call out may be at an unsociable time particularly during the summer when darkness is required for a night shoot. The Duty Storekeeper will be eligible to claim overtime.
