Responsibilities

  • Working daily with solicitors, discussing, analysing and resolving legal issues which arise from new claims, and deciding on the appropriate legal response to the claim before approving the final defence that will be lodged at Tribunal
  • Developing the strategic approach and ongoing strategies for claims by analysing and understanding the legal advice received. Following liaison with other areas of the Army and MoD, this will then be used to give instructions to solicitors
  • Coordinating the administration of witnesses for Employment Tribunal hearings and the collation of witness statements
  • Writing submissions to the Treasury, Ministerial Submissions and Defensive News Briefs
  • On completion of hearings, you will work as a part of the team identifying any lessons learned, logging them and sharing them. You are also likely to conduct reviews of case management processes to identify areas for improvement
  • Coordinating, inputting and provision of statistics, with responsibility for finance tasks on a monthly and quarterly basis and providing input and advice to the Senior Executive Officer (SEO) Team Leader for policy issues and statistical returns
  • Handle the workflow, training, development and welfare of one subordinate Administrative Officer (AO)
  • Support and lead other tasks as required by the SEO Team Leader, and wider business, in accordance with business need
