  • Are you a practicing GP who is interested in joining NHS England’s Elective Recovery Transformation and Programmes team?
  • We are looking for someone to join our team at a critical time for the programme as we refresh the Elective Care Recovery plan, focussing on further reducing the elective care waiting list resulting in improved care and experience for patients.
  • This position will act in an advisory capacity for elective recovery and outpatients and will provide a primary care focus to support elective recovery ambitions.
  • This is an advisory role but you will have experience in delivering transformational change across the primary, secondary and community care interface.
  • The post holder will provide clinical leadership and advice to support the National Clinical Directors with the successful delivery of Elective and Outpatient Recovery.
  • This includes influencing and leading policy development and implementation, securing key stakeholder buy-in, promoting the NHS, and acting as a spokesperson for the organisation.
  • The role will include working nationally in an advisory capacity supporting the development and implementation of new models of care supporting elective recovery, working closely with colleagues in primary care and other national bodies, e.g. Royal Colleges and stakeholder organisations.
  • You will provide a primary care focus to support elective recovery ambitions.
  • Whilst the role is advisory rather than operational, experience in delivering transformational change is required, along with primary care and secondary care interface work.
  • The post holder will be expected to deliver their responsibilities through physical meetings/ attendance at specific sites, telephone, teleconference and email.
  • The scope of the role is wide-ranging and includes as examples:
  • Clinical advice and leadership to drive transformation of services for patients through corporate programmes and workstreams
  • Clinical advice and leadership to support the commissioning of services; and
  • Clinical advice to support development of policy and parliamentary accountability.

  • NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met.
  • To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you’ll usually need to be paid the ‘standard’ salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the ‘going rate’ for your job, whichever is higher.
