What type of surgeries will I be involved in as a consultant in anaesthetics at Kent & Canterbury Hospital?
You will be involved in providing anaesthetic care for various surgical specialties, including vascular surgery, urological surgery, elective orthopaedic surgery, dental and maxillofacial surgery, ENT, general surgery (including paediatrics), ophthalmology, interventional radiology, MRI, and endoscopy.
Is there a focus on regional anaesthesia in the department?
Yes, regional anaesthesia plays a major part in our service, and you will have opportunities to practice upper and lower limb ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia.
Are there opportunities for teaching and mentoring in this role?
Yes, the post holder may be involved in the education of medical students, junior doctors, and other clinical staff within theatres.
What kind of critical care services does the hospital provide?
Kent & Canterbury Hospital provides critical care services in a six-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ITU) and a four-bedded High Dependency Unit (HDU), supported by dedicated Intensive Care Clinicians and Anaesthetists.
Can I work at other Trust sites if I want to?
Yes, there is an opportunity to work at other Trust sites based on personal experience, preference, and the clinical needs of the Kent & Canterbury department.
Are there any financial incentives for joining the Trust?
Yes, there is an additional £20,000 payment as part of the recruitment premium for consultants choosing to work at our Trust.
