What are the minimum qualifications required for the Data Center Technician position?
The minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, experience with Linux operating systems and networking protocols, experience with Linux Administration, Network Infrastructure, Hardware, Project Management, Technical Support Operations, or Network Diagnostics, as well as experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware, and server hardware.
Are there any preferred qualifications for this role?
Yes, preferred qualifications include experience with networking protocols, performing component-level repairs on IT equipment, the ability to lift/move 50lbs (23kg) of equipment, capability to work non-standard hours including weekends and holidays, and flexibility to work in a 24/7 or 8/7 support model.
What kind of tasks will I be responsible for as a Data Center Technician?
As a Data Center Technician, you will perform core data center operations and deployment tasks, diagnose and repair broken equipment, contribute to deployment, maintenance and support of data center servers and network infrastructure, and install and maintain networking gear such as switches and routers.
Is physical labor a significant part of this job?
Yes, the role involves manual movement and installation of equipment, which can sometimes be physically demanding, including activities such as bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
