Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of design proposals that meet customer requirements, ensuring they adhere to budget and timeline constraints. You will work directly with customers to present design proposals and gain approval while keeping customer goals at the forefront.
  • Ensure that designs prioritize safety in both construction and use, maintain high-quality standards, and deliver ease of maintenance. Your designs should also promote energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact, in line with sustainability goals.
  • Manage the Design Team, including M&E elements, ensuring effective communication and clear briefing. You will also be responsible for managing third-party contractors or novated design teams, ensuring they meet all customer specifications and checking the competency and resources of design teams.
  • Advise the design and construction teams on the “buildability” of proposed designs. Liaise with relevant statutory bodies, including town planning, building control, and utility services such as gas and water, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Take ownership of the design deliverables programme. This includes ensuring that there is a clear schedule for all design deliverables, leading regular gate reviews to confirm milestones are met, and communicating progress with the Bid Managers and Project Delivery teams.
  • Champion the implementation of BIM CSUK protocols, promoting teamwork and collaboration while managing and sharing data related to BIM models. Ensure the supply chain is fully aware of BIM requirements and apply best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities for applying Lean construction techniques to save costs, reduce waste, and optimize the construction process. Share lessons learned and best practices from bids and projects to enhance future designs and processes.
  • Contribute proactively to the Risk and Value Management process to ensure that all design solutions offer value to the customer and align with the overall project goals.
