Responsibilities

  • Assists in the creation of digital marketing materials for the Press's frontlist and backlist books.
  • Writes articles, Q&As, author profiles, and introductions to reading lists and creates content for the website, social media, and emails.
  • Assists with creating and maintaining book metadata.
  • Creates digital assets for marketing channels, email, and web use, e.g. Twitter banners, social cards, email and web heroes, along with Amazon A+ content.
  • Creates landing pages, digital assets, and promo codes for academic conferences, promotions, and campaigns.
  • Proofreads marketing communications and web pages.
  • Helps to update and maintain the Press’s customer relationship management platform, customer lists, and audiences.
  • Plans and executes special digital marketing campaigns for select titles via advertising, email, and organic marketing efforts, as well as through partnerships, organizational outreach, and author events.
  • Helps to identify and segment audiences for select titles and campaigns. Assists in building and maintaining influencer lists and custom audiences.
  • Assists in keyword research and implementing SEO tactics to elevate the Press’s books and authors in search results.
  • Tracks and provides analytics for digital marketing campaigns. Channels include online advertising, social media, and email.
  • Assists in setting up, monitoring, and reporting on digital advertising campaigns via Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, and other platforms.
  • Publishes book and author pages to the Harvard University Press website.
  • Updates descriptive copy and book metadata in the Press’s Biblio book database.
  • Assists with site audits and fixing site errors.
  • Helps to implement SEO tactics: adding meta descriptions, keywords, and alt text.
  • Assists with ongoing ADA compliance work.
  • Tracks and provides analytics for website traffic and engagement.
  • Creates ADA-compliant “Look Inside” PDFs for all new books and select backlist titles.
  • Responsible for payment of digital marketing invoices, including processing (with accounting) and cost assignment/record keeping in the publishing management system (Biblio).
  • Works with outside vendors to obtain direct mail lists, services, and art permissions as needed.
  • Helps to build and update campaign/project schedules using the team’s project management tool.
