Requirements

  • GCSE/O level qualifications in English and Maths
  • A recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline
  • HND/HNC qualification in an engineering discipline (Preferable)
  • PLC experience/qualification (Fault finding only)
  • A background of working on automated conveyor systems
  • Experience of managing a small team of engineers
  • Ability to self-manage and priorities workload
  • Capable of reading, following and understand electrical drawings
  • Capable of reading, following and understand mechanical drawings
  • Fault finding within a “Live” environment
  • People management / good communication skills
  • Organised and able to carry out administration tasks

Responsibilities

  • Manage of the day-to-day running of the engineering function in terms of work orders whilst ensuring safe working practices are adhered to.
  • Respond when required to system issues involving conveyors, PIE, sortation and controls.
  • Assists with any infrastructure upgrades along with modifications/repairs to DC assets.
  • Basic troubleshooting/diagnostics and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control system components of the conveyor system and building components, including but not limited to:
  • PLCs
  • Drives
  • Invertors
  • Encoders
  • Scanners
  • Power distribution
  • Communication systems
  • Ability to work independently on projects and work assignments.
  • Work with contractors, service providers and other maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center.
  • Support department expenditure through cost/contract negotiations.
  • Provide and maintain a spares package to allow for reduced downtime.
  • Equipment and tools must be readily available for the function to perform effectively and efficiently.
  • Team member engagement, behaviors and welfare should be at the forefront of all decisions and actions to continually make Cromwell a great place to work (GPTW)
  • Ability to conduct and hold performance related conversations
  • Easily adjusts to changes in priorities, and flexible to respond to on-call emergencies.
  • Works in cross-functional teams and work groups to identify and resolve problems by proposing unique and innovative solutions.
  • Keeps Engineering Manager informed of progress on assignments, projects and repair functions.
  • Must be available for 24-hour on-call rotation.
  • Ensures all controlled areas and equipment remain fully compliant at all times.
