Responsibilities

  • With guidance from a Principal Genetic Counsellor and medical team, you will lead a team of Genomic Associates to support UHS to fulfil their strategy for mainstreaming genomic medicine within the GLH/GMSA strategy and rare disease research as part of the UK Plan for Rare Diseases.
  • The post is closely allied to the Wessex Clinical Genetics Service and covers a population of over 3 million in the Wessex region (Hants, Dorset, South Wilts, & Isle of Wight).
  • The post will involve liaison with many clinical specialities and other Trusts within the Wessex Genomic Medicine Centre.
  • Assist in identifying patients with rare diseases to enhance recruitment to the WGMC.
  • Support clinicians so that whole genome sequencing can be optimised in other specialities.
  • Training other clinical staff to identify patients for whole genome sequencing.
  • This is a challenging, autonomous role.
  • You will also be expected to participate in research, audit, teaching and education.
