  • To be considered for this position, you’ll need:
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 0-4 years’ experience performing civil engineering duties
  • Have passed or plan to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
  • Relevant experiences, such as your field of study, past work experience, internships, co-op, volunteering, or relevant association memberships that drive your interest to design a variety of civil engineering project types.
  • Willingness to learn various software programs, and calculation methods, and ask questions
  • Methodical approach to problem-solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
  • Written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, with an ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (Project, Word, and Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Our South-Central team supports some of the most ambitious transportation, water, and infrastructure projects in North America, including:
  • Engineering services for the reconstruction of Bourbon Street (Canal – Dumaine) in New Orleans, LA
  • Construction oversight of the Pensacola Bay Bridge in Florida.
  • Program management services for the design and construction of the Airbus Final Assembly Line in Alabama.
  • Owner’s design manager for the design build of the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway in Alabama.
  • Engineering services for the modernization of the Los Angeles International Airport.
  • With guidance from a professional engineer, your responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
  • Performing construction oversight through site inspections, investigations, and monitoring contractor compliance
  • Developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed civil engineering designs for municipal clients
  • Using design manuals and standards to develop geometric design plans, alignments, profiles, cross sections, paving and striping layouts, traffic control plans
  • Performing hydrology and hydraulic drainage calculations
  • Calculating quantities for earthwork, asphalt, concrete, and utilities
  • Actively participating in project, client, and team meetings
  • Reviewing, preparing, and modifying designs
  • Interpreting reports, specifications, and studies to incorporate into designs
  • Gaining technical knowledge to help you achieve professional registration
  • Improving your organizational skills and developing toward a project manager
  • Actively participating in our ‘Early Careers Professional’ Network
