  • Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Coastal, Civil, and/or Ocean Engineering or related field
  • 0-5 years of engineering design experience, including the production of plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Experience with assisting in the development of presentations and marketing materials.
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including technical writing and presentation skills
  • Experience using GIS software, AutoCAD, and other industry standard software
  • Familiarity with industry standard analysis, design, and project management principles and practices.
  • At a minimum, candidate must have passed the F.E. exam and currently be an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.). Candidate must have the ability to obtain professional licensure within 2-4 years of their start date.
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Post-graduate degree in Coastal, Ocean, or Civil Engineering with a focus on Coastal, Ocean or Port Engineering
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
  • Communication and collaboration skills in a team setting
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) Civil, currently active and registered in Washington State.
  • Engineering design experience in coastal or port engineering industry
  • Experience with engineering analysis to support design. Engineering analysis experience should include a working knowledge and prior experience using numerical models such as SWAN, Mike, HEC-RAS, XBeach, Delft-3D, and other industry standard design tools, codes and applications.
  • Experience with industry standard coding languages such as Python, R, Matlab, etc.
  • Experience with coastal engineering design in urban and rural settings such as shoreline protection, waterfront parks, shoreline restoration, flood control, navigation facilities, bulkheads, dredging, and recreational boating facilities.
  • Experience in habitat creation and/or protection projects, and the application of coastal resiliency principles.
  • Experience with marine elements of offshore wind and renewable energy projects.
  • Experience in working on teams of multidisciplinary, urban-focused flood protection and resiliency projects.
  • Flexibility to travel regionally (up to 20%).

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis and design for coastal infrastructure development and maintenance.
  • Conduct analysis and numerical modeling of coastal and fluvial processes such as currents, waves, storm surge, sediment transport, geomorphology, and sediment fate analysis.
  • Assist with developing data collection plans for elevation surveying, geotechnical investigations, and environmental data.
  • Support engineering design projects with a focus on coastal, marine facilities, and water resources design.
  • Perform GIS-based mapping assessments for submarine cable routing and landfall.
  • Perform analysis of metocean and coastal/marine conditions (i.e., waves, currents, winds, morphology, etc.).
  • Interpret and work with bathymetric and other geophysical survey data.
  • Assist Project Managers in the management of projects that may include engineering analysis, preliminary, and detailed design of coastal and/or marine infrastructure.
  • Assist Project Managers in managing projects that may include civil engineering design, review of geotechnical assessments, hydraulics and hydrology, and other miscellaneous civil engineering tasks.
  • Assist with cost estimating during various phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Perform technical writing and development of presentations and reports.
  • Collaborate with Mott MacDonald practices across North America and abroad.
