Description

  • Fugro are recruiting for a graduate hydrographic processor to join our world-leading geophysical survey department based at our waterfront office in Portchester on the UK’s south coast. As a hydrographic processor, you will be responsible for processing hydrographic data on a wide variety of projects. You will work with teams in the field and project surveyors in the office to deliver industry-leading data to our clients.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain exposure to a variety of projects working in a range of markets (including renewables, UXO, pipeline inspection). The role will combine time based at our Portchester office, at site office such as our remote operations centre in Aberdeen, and offshore on Fugro vessels. Therefore, you will get the opportunity to experience both the onshore and offshore environment, working at the forefront of marine geophysical science.
  • The successful candidate will be working closely with the project team. This includes the project manager, vessel team, other processors and our clients. You will report to a project surveyor.

Requirements

  • A qualification in hydrography, ocean science, earth mapping or closely related subject;
  • An analytical mindset, shown by experience in data management, data processing and/or programming/coding;
  • Good verbal and written English language skills;
  • An ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients;
  • Confidence working under pressure to tight deadlines;
  • A high attention to detail, quality and safety;
  • We require applicants to live within (or relocate to) a commutable distance from our Portchester office.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience of industry-standard hydrographic processing software, such as Teledyne CARIS, Fugro Starfix or Applanix POSPac;
  • Offshore/practical experience in oil and gas, ocean science, renewables and/or survey industries;
  • Able to work offshore for periods of up to 4 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will:

  • You will play a key role in:
  • Processing, interpreting and reporting of hydrographic data, including multibeam echosounder, GNSS tides, SVPs, USBL and backscatter;
  • Delivering high quality data at all phases throughout the project life cycle, including acquisition, processing, interpretation, reporting and deliverables;
  • Assisting with vessel mobilisations and demobilisations where required;
  • Undertaking offshore survey operations, including offshore processing, assisting with back-deck operations, undertaking data coverage checks and creating infill lineplans.
