Responsibilities

  • Building new capability to co-ordinate delivery within the Office for Veterans' Affairs: creating and overseeing a new network of VALOUR regional field officers, working to co-ordinate and cohere delivery of veterans’ support across local government, other statutory and third sector services; building data flows and insight capabilities connecting local, national and regional, to report up to Ministers and influence policy across Whitehall and delivery on the ground.
  • Establishing a new network of VALOUR-recognised support centres across the UK: in line with centrally driven governance, compliance and data requirements; tailored to veterans' needs locally; fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of veterans through development funding; building on what works through data and insight.
  • Creating partnerships: leading engagement with key stakeholders at regional, local, and national levels, including local government, Devolved Governments, and third sector organisations. Strengthening partnerships within the Ministry of Defence particularly with those responsible for the case management provision available to veterans through MOD’s Veterans Welfare Service, teams responsible for the Armed Forces Covenant and veterans' services delivered by the MOD and other government departments.
  • Driving progress, service quality and continuous improvement: Direct reporting to Minister for Veterans and People on progress; ensure the network supports veterans and, where applicable, the wider armed forces community in accessing services aligned with the Armed Forces Covenant; Use data and user feedback to continuously improve service delivery; Establish robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
