Responsibilities

  • Provide and receive routine information requiring reassurance, empathy and de-escalation skills.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills when managing individuals with complex needs.
  • To support patients throughout their admission including supporting individuals during their crisis period.
  • Support individuals in completing relevant assessment paperwork such as Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Tool, Recovering and Quality of Life alongside physical health assessments such as the Health Improvement Profile.
  • To help facilitate therapeutic intervention and distraction techniques for our service users.
  • To undertake basic physical testing using the National Early Warning Score tool and report any significant findings to the nurse in charge.
  • To maintain up to date knowledge and skills relevant to the field of practice.
  • Work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary team and report any concerns to the nurse in charge – including a change in a patient’s presentation which may be observed through observation or supportive engagements.
  • To recognise and respond to emergency situations accordingly.
