Description

  • Under the supervision of the Quality Engineer, the Inspector checks and inspects in-coming materials, in-process and finished products, ensuring conformance to company quality standards and customer specifications.  This position is also responsible for observing safe work habits and maintaining cleanliness of work area.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
  • Troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems.
  • Recommend methods of assembly and production.
  • Perform inspection on first piece, in process, purchased part and finished material and products, ensuring conformance to specifications.
  • Test finished products for, dimensions, fit, and appearance.
  • Perform tests including hardness testing and holiday testing
  • Route product for re-work.
  • Complete all required records and paperwork to include inspection reports, damage reports, return reports, and re-work orders.
  • Process purchase damage numbers when incorrect material is received.
  • Ensure finished product is packaged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation and incorrect product shipped.
  • Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.
  • Communicate with plant supervision noted deviations of tolerances and quality.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
