Responsibilities

  • Coordinate human resources and payroll functions, processes, and initiatives for all Jackson School units to ensure best practices, efficiencies, and compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and University policies and practices. Serve as the JSG HR Executive advising the Dean and Chief Business Officer on HR matters including employee relations. Review JSG HR policies and procedures and provide recommendations on continuous improvements.
  • Direct and manage all aspects in the employee lifecycle for the JSG Dean's Office and the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences for staff and academic research staff. Supervise and serve as final approver for HR staff transactions and procedures including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, reclassifications, annual evaluations, and separations. Provide advice and consultation to supervisors on employee relation issues.
  • Direct and manage all aspects in the student employee lifecycle for all units in JSG. Supervise and serve as final approver for student HR staff transactions and procedures including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, student awards/tuition remission, and separations. Provide advice and consultation to supervisors on student employee relation issues.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with central administrative offices on HR matters including HR SWS, Benefits, EVPP, Title IX, Compliance, and DIA. Be a member and active participant of the University HR Leadership group.
  • Provide advice and suggestions related to Faculty Affairs to JSG and EPS leadership and administrative staff. Assist with complex faculty employee issues when needed.
  • Provide a high level of professional customer service to all members of the JSG and UT community. Participate in routine and ad hoc meetings with JSG unit leaders and supervisors on HR matters. Provide HR reports and metrics to assist unit leaders on decisions for HR-related matters.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
