Requirements

  • Preference given to those with 3+ years Employee and Labor Relations experience in the Utility industry.
  • Experience creating presentations (PowerPoint) and presenting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding and working knowledge of employment law
  • Negotiating skills
  • SHRM/PHR preferred.
  • For an associate level, a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required (if no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four-six years).
  • For a journey level, a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required (if no degree, six-eight years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six-eight years).
  • For a senior level, a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).
  • Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two year's experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor.
  • Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of 3 year's experience at Level 2, is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.
  • A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Currently, SRP does not sponsor H1B visas, OPT, or other employment-related visa's.

Responsibilities

  • Advises management and employees on the interpretation and application of company policies, guidelines, procedures, union contracts, and federal, state, and local laws.
  • Conducts investigations related to conduct, performance, and/or attendance reliability violations and/or alleged job discrimination, harassment, internal and external equity complaints, etc. Provides recommendations for positive discipline as appropriate.
  • Participates as a management representative in the grievance/arbitration procedure, union contract discussion and union contract negotiations.
  • Prepares, counsels, and administers all separations of service.
  • Partners with other HR departments in order to assist in resolving management and/or employee concerns.
  • Maintains effective relationships with SRP leadership, employees and Union representatives to assist in problem resolution. Consults on strategic workforce initiatives.
  • Provides training to SRP leadership and employees on HR policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Drafts responses to external charges or inquires for legal review (EEOC/OFCCP).
  • Recommends and assists in the development of HR policies, guidelines and procedures relating to the employee relations and labor relations function.
