Requirements

  • - The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree or diploma in Business Administration, Management or a related area, as well as 3 – 5 years of professional experience related to student loan advising, government benefit services, or financial services.
  • - Experience working in an office environment is preferred.
  • - Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a high level of computer proficiency, as well as an overall knowledge of personal finance options (credit, government student aid, loans, budgeting, RESPs) are required.
  • - Analytical and critical thinking skills are a necessity.

Responsibilities

  • - Help guide and support students to navigate various financial tools (government student loans, awards, other resources) and assist in the resolution of funding challenges
  • - Advise and support prospective, current, and graduated students on the governmental loan process including application, confirmation, and repayment
  • - Liaise with government agencies and personnel, and various University departments as it relates to the approval/rejection of approximately 5000 government student loan requests per academic year
  • - Navigate the online loan portals for 10 provinces and 3 territories, as well as several internal systems (Banner and Blackbaud Awards Management)
  • - Exercise independent judgment and decision-making while adhering to and having extensive knowledge of current University and government policies and regulations
  • - Analyze and problem-solve with students on options to optimize access to student loan programs and government funding
  • - Gather and analyze relevant information to exhibit strong research skills and attention to detail in order to assess and assist with complex cases
  • - Participate in campus and community events to provide information on loan and awards programs and support financial literacy programming related to loan applications, loan repayment programs, budgeting, etc.
