Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree level or equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years' working experience in handling Packages like Chemical process packages, Cooling Tower, Water treatment packages, Material handling system equipment, compressor packages
  • Competent with industry standards including ability to carry out calculations to BS, EN, ISO, ASME, API, etc…
  • Good understanding of ATEX directives, Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Machinery Directive
  • Ability to understand and review supplier documentation such as ITP's FAT's SAT's, test reports and interpret mill certificate, product certification etc…
  • Solid experience of the design, selection and specification of all process system equipment i.e. pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, pipework, valves and fittings etc…
  • Ability to understand, interpret and produce engineering documentation i.e. P&ID's, PFD's, engineering drawings, performance graphs, datasheets, specifications
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, report writing and presentation skills to convey technical information to a variety of audiences
  • Understanding of material selection for industrial applications
  • Ability to evaluate parts and processes for cost, efficiency and reliability improvements
  • Knowledge of Risk Analysis tools such as (FMEA DFMEA)
  • Understand safety, compliance, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Availability to travel internationally to site and vendors workshop
  • Capable of critical thinking with solid decision-making skills
  • Strong time management skills, including prioritisation management
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel
  • Preferably working experience is in oil and gas industry, chemical industry, industrial gases process plants industry
  • Achieved or working toward Chartered (CEng) status with relevant industry body
  • Capable user of 3D CAD software, ideally Solidworks
  • Ability to carry out FEA analysis using ANSYS Mechanical
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Awareness of EC&I requirements for packaged equipment and pump systems
  • Familiarity with a manufacturing environment including BOMs and MRP
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and processes i.e. change notes, NCR's etc…

Responsibilities

  • The Package engineers' main objective will be a complete ownership of these various multidisciplinary units/equipment procured to build the system and sub-system packages. Ensuring the units/equipment selected are verified, certified, qualified, meets all statutory obligations and are fit for purpose for the life expectancy of the packaged system based on the contractual agreement. The package unit engineer shall also prepare the right technical documentation (datasheets and specification) of equipment to support proposals, FEED, detailed engineering and prototype test rigs.
  • Key interactions of the Package unit engineer are internally with project teams, procurement dept., compliance dept. quality dept. and other engineering disciplines. Externally with clients, vendors, suppliers and participate in bid clarification meetings.
