Requirements

  • Industry related Level 8 Degree in Mechanical, Building Services or Energy Engineering.
  • Membership of a professional body such as Engineers Ireland or CIBSE, advantageous.

  • Minimum 3 years’ operating within a consultancy practice.
  • Experience and design skills in various sectors (Commercial, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Educational, Healthcare, Hospitality, Residential, Data Centres);
  • Proven track record in the design and co-ordination of mechanical building services engineering projects;
  • Good knowledge of low-carbon design principles, nZEB, Part L compliance.
  • Established working relationships with public and private sector clients;
  • Track record of working in multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Experience of projects undertaken in a BIM environment using Revits
  • Key Skills:
  • Technically skilled in all core building services design elements including HVAC, controls, piped utilities, and above ground drainage.
  • Preparation of feasibility studies incorporating Energy Efficient Design principles, scheme design drawings and reports, detail design packages including specifications and equipment data sheets, cost estimating, tender process, construction and commissioning/validation monitoring and handover.
  • Formal and informal interactions with Clients, design team members and contractors.
  • Applying BIM Level 2 procedures to projects and coordinating with other discipline models.
  • Effective team player delivering projects from inception through to completion.
  • Knowledge of thermal modelling software such as IES, calculation software and the use of detailed calculation spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • You will contribute to feasibility studies, option appraisals, scheme and detail design using calculation spreadsheets and IES thermal modelling software, AutoCAD and Revit. The role also involves visiting sites during the construction stage to monitor progress and quality of the installation works. You will work closely with other team members both in RPS and the wider design team such as architects and structural engineers and you will be expected to attend client meetings and demonstrate RPS values and behaviours.
