What is the role of a Medical Laboratory Assistant in Point Of Care Testing?
The Medical Laboratory Assistant in POCT assists with the quality provision of the POCT laboratory service, including technical analysis and maintenance of POCT analysers, supporting quality assurance, and troubleshooting.
What are the primary responsibilities of this position?
Responsibilities include following quality control procedures, preparing and distributing samples for external quality assurance, inputting quality control returns, performing routine and emergency maintenance and calibration of equipment, working to a schedule while remaining flexible to changing priorities, and effectively communicating with clinicians and other service users.
Is previous experience required for this role?
While previous experience in a laboratory setting can be beneficial, a strong motivation and enthusiasm for the role are key. Training may be provided for specific tasks and procedures.
