What is the main purpose of the Mental Health Support Worker role in the Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)?
The main purpose of the Mental Health Support Worker role is to provide compassionate and effective care to women experiencing acute phases of serious mental disorders while supporting their recovery in a therapeutic environment.
What qualifications or experience are required for this position?
While experience in healthcare, specifically mental health, is desirable, it is not mandatory. We welcome individuals without experience, and support will be provided to develop skills within the role.
What type of patients will I be working with in this role?
You will be working with female patients presenting with psychotic disorders, mood disorders, complex trauma, and personality disorders.
What kind of shifts can I expect to work?
You can expect to work shifts over a 7-day week, including night shifts.
Will I be working as part of a team?
Yes, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that is friendly and passionate about providing the best experience for service users.
What kind of activities will I be involved in with the patients?
You will lead and engage patients in a variety of activities both on the ward and off the ward to promote recovery and therapeutic engagement.
Who will I be under the leadership of during my work?
You will be working under the leadership of a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
