Requirements

  • Expert knowledge and experience with IMS technologies and related voice services, including VoLTE, VoWiFi, Interconnect, Fixed, and 5G.
  • Extensive design experience in the IMS Voice Services domain.
  • Strong, mature knowledge and experience with telecom voice solutions based on virtualized technology, such as VMware and COTS.
  • Solid, mature knowledge and experience with telecom voice solutions utilizing private or public cloud technologies, including containerization, Kubernetes, Linux, and OpenStack software.
  • Practical and expert knowledge and experience with protocols such as SIP, HTTP, Diameter, DNS, BICC, ISUP, CAP, and INAP.
  • Hands-on experience with subscriber provisioning processes and systems.
  • Proficiency in telecom platform and software security skills.
  • Made decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions (e.g., divided project team opinions or unclear deliverables).
  • Demonstratable experience in mobile voice network design roles.
  • Good communication skills that simply explain technical details to varied audiences up to and including Director level.
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and vendors to drive network customisations to enhance features and functionality.
  • Collaborating positively with others in and outside BT to drive best solutions and practices.
  • Ability to develop an internal network of strong working relationships you can call on to assist with your role.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for detailed voice design inputs and outputs at both platform and service levels.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality high-level and low-level voice design documentation.
  • Represent the team in project engagements, contributing team requirements and deliverables from concept to launch.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the team, senior management, and other internal/external teams as needed.
  • Design scalable and resilient voice solutions using the best technology to attract new customers and ensure existing customers have the best experience possible.
  • Monitor the capacity of voice platforms and their associated interfaces that the team is responsible for.
  • Plan and deliver necessary capacity upgrades, configuration changes, and migration activities.
  • Collaborate closely with test and operations teams and other stakeholders across "Networks" to ensure the stability of voice solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultancy within BT and with external vendors.
  • Support and coach team members on voice core design activities.
  • Provides technical expertise to inform contract and commercial management.
  • Creates and implements technical solutions for a domain or across domains / portfolios of work within a specific technology area.
  • Strong experience of producing great documentation for complex solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and low-level diagnostic ability.
  • Detailed understanding of voice core networks as well as wider understanding of mobile and BT core networks and services.
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to analyse and interpret data, network statistics and financial details.
