Requirements

  • The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV)
  • Routing and Switching of different vendors (including VRFs, and eBGP)
  • Network security (driven by TSA)
  • Troubleshooting
  • Technical Documentation
  • Experience in mobile/fixed telecommunications industry in a design or planning role with business-critical, high-availability systems and networks
  • Exposure to 5G, LTE, LTE-A, and other 3GPP architectures and the relevant transport requirements to support them.
  • Experience in router/switching network design
  • Practical connectivity of router/switches in a lab environment
  • Background in managing relationships with suppliers and third parties of product/feature selection and of delivering those products into a production environment. Good communication skills with the ability to broker agreement across teams and presenting & communicating technical information to both technical & non-technical personnel

Responsibilities

  • Designing backhaul solutions for the main macro cellular network, and also smaller defined bespoke solutions for specific projects.
  • Design solutions that work with the multiple RAN vendors and also openreach products and with 21CN.
  • Work within the Backhaul Design team to ensure all solutions work end to end and to provide support to the other sub teams, and deployment teams.
  • Work occasionally with peers, managers and other stakeholders to assess risks and mitigation of issues affecting cell site transmission and transport layer connectivity to cell sites. Work with Operational and Planning/Deployment teams to assist in analysis, support and resolution of network related faults that may be caused by transmission issues.
  • Work within the design team and architecture on network evolution.
