Responsibilities

  • To work as part of the multidisciplinary nutrition team in the provision of care to patients receiving artificial nutritional support.
  • To provide specialist advice to staff in the care of patients receiving artificial nutritional support.
  • To provide support and specialist advice to patients and their families within this field.
  • To formulate, implement and review policies and protocols relating to the delivery of artificial nutritional support.
  • To work with the Endoscopy unit and Radiology departments to facilitate in the placement of enteral feeding tubes.
  • To provide troubleshooting advice for enteral feeding tubes including within the ED to expedite discharge and avoid admission.
  • To provide staff training and support in the care of patients receiving artificial nutrition.
  • To monitor the quality of the service provided.
  • Participate in the trust nutrition link nurse meetings, cross site nutrition steering group meetings.
