Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a Programme Manager to join the Cancer Data-Driven Detection (CD3) programme. The Programme Manager will support the Senior Research Programme Manager, working closely with the core CD3 operations and management team, workstream leads, driver programme leads, cross-cutting theme leads and other CD3 partners and stakeholders, to support delivery of the objectives of CD3.
  • The role involves planning and managing a diverse workload comprising complex, overlapping tasks, requiring excellent organisational skills. The post-holder must effectively plan and deliver their work while remaining responsive to the evolving needs of a fast-paced organisation. Flexibility is essential to adapt to the changing demands of the CD3 management team, the broader CD3 research community, and external developments.
  • The Programme Manager will be expected to apply problem-solving skills to address the diverse demands on the team. As part of a small team, the post holder will operate with significant independence, requiring confidence and resilience in planning and handling enquiries and challenges that arise across the programme. They will exercise sound judgement in determining when and how to escalate issues to senior colleagues, ensuring appropriate urgency and clarity.
  • The post-holder will make all day-to-day operational decisions for their own workload and, when required on behalf of the CD3 programme. With support from the Senior Research Programme Manager, the leadership team, workstream/driver-programme/cross-cutting theme leads they will identify, initiate and execute efficient project delivery of rapid programmes of work.
  • The post holder will work closely with the Senior Research Programme Manager, CD3 executive committee and workstream, driver programme and cross-cutting theme leads. They will build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues within the CD3 Research Community, the wider cancer research and health and administrative data science community, public and patients and other key stakeholders.
