  • - Expert knowledge of consumer regulation applicable to retail banking (including FCA regulation and data protection).
  • - The ability to shape, develop and deliver on a compliance monitoring plan.
  • - The ability to apply that knowledge to provide practical opinions and oversight, with an understanding of how credit cards, loans and savings products operate.
  • - Good listening and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with business stakeholders, understanding their point of view and providing practical and pragmatic advice on regulatory compliance.
  • - Good report writing skills, with the ability to understand how to deliver key messages in Board and Oversight reports.
  • - The ability to work well as part of a team.
  • - Line management and leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Providing subject matter expertise on compliance with the consumer regulatory regimes the banking business is subject to, including FCA regulation and data protection.
  • Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships to embed compliance awareness across the organisation.
  • Performing close and continuous and thematic oversight to support the Bank’s compliance with regulation and provide a view to management through Risk Opinions.
  • Reporting on regulatory compliance risk, providing input to Committee papers.
  • Acting as a delegate for the Head of Compliance where required.
