What qualifications are required for the Senior Control Plane Engineer position?
The basic qualifications for this position include a MS/BS degree in CS/EE/CE or technical equivalent, 7+ years of related work experience, software development experience using C, C++, and/or Python, experience developing routing protocol stack in vendor NOS or in open-source networking stacks like FRR, Quagga, and a deep understanding of network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, etc.
What are some preferred qualifications for the Senior Control Plane Engineer position?
Some preferred qualifications include experience and/or knowledge of Segment Routing, L2VPN and EVPN technologies, BIER and Controller based Solutions, understanding of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) principles, Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and related technologies such as OpenFlow, network overlays, and virtualized network functions, experience with MPLS based VPNs, GIT, Jira, Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline tools, virtualization and container technologies including KVM/Qemu, Docker and/or Kubernetes, and strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex network issues.
What will be the main responsibilities of the Senior Control Plane Engineer?
The main responsibilities include joining an agile team engaged in the design, development, and testing of the Control Plane required for Cisco 8000 platforms utilizing experience in routing protocol stack development and network operating systems. The engineer will work on solving networking challenges through routing protocol enhancement designs and have an automation first mindset with experience in scripting languages and test frameworks.
