Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate a broad range of agreements including sales, partnership, distribution and SaaS agreements.
  • Manage a variety of legal work and tasks, generally with minimal of supervision (except where subject otherwise requires), and which may include a variety of issues including compliance (competition law, consumer law, data privacy law, review or steer review by a junior legal team member of multinational contracts, review of marketing campaigns and materials (including advertising & promotions), dispute resolution, corporate compliance at UK HQ.
  • Support and implement contracting strategies for new product launches.
  • If required, participate in legal working groups within the Canon EMEA territory and assist on local or regional issues as required from time to time.
  • Support internal projects, trainings and processes and drive cross-functional efforts.
  • Design, build and improve legal department processes.
  • Review and assess risk/legal implications of relevant company strategies & activities, making recommendations for change, as required and ensure appropriate reporting to manager, develop standard guidance, develop and deliver compliance training for business and, when required – Canon EMEA Legal Team
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of the Business Unit objectives, drivers and threats in order to provide pro-active, contextualised legal advice to and for the Business Unit while interfacing with National Sales Organisations (NSO) to ensure a consistent understanding of both central and NSO concerns and opportunities.
  • Supports in resolving complex issues in BU area of responsibility based on existing solutions and procedures or proposing improvements to such solutions and procedures
  • Serves as a resource for Legal competence centres (such as Privacy/Competition etc) across the EMEA teams or specified projects
  • Trains/mentors junior employees
