Requirements

  • You will need to demonstrate strategic thinking and creative flair combined with the necessary abilities to plan, develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies. You will also be able to demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness, along with budget management experience.
  • In addition, you will have:
  • previous relevant marketing experience.
  • excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • strong copywriting, copyediting and proofreading skills.
  • proficiency in the full range of digital marketing channels and analytics tools.
  • creative thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • professional marketing qualification is desirable.
  • direct experience of, or qualification in, publishing (desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing marketing campaigns to ensure products reach their target markets and achieve sales targets. Activities will include: email marketing, search and social media, content marketing, advertising, exhibitions and events.
  • Evaluating and reporting on marketing campaigns through the use of campaign analytics and metrics, combined with customer sales and usage data.
  • Engaging in contact list-building activities to grow internal database of marketing contacts.
  • Working in partnership with key internal and external business stakeholders on product and brand development and publishing strategies.
  • Autonomous forward planning and budget management to ensure spend is aligned with strategy.
  • Managing relationships with key external stakeholders, including authors, editors and publishing partners, to support a professional publishing service.
  • Conducting close working relationships with commissioning Editorial teams in your subject area, ensuring that there is strong and clear two-way communication about key products, marketing strategies and plans.
  • Representation of Cambridge University Press & Assessment at external business meetings, academic conferences and industry events, providing a professional, customer-facing profile for the business.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest Marketing theory, technologies and best practice to improve marketing ROI, and actively testing new marketing techniques.
  • Acting as a lead in projects and working groups as required.
