Requirements

  • To be successful in this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering and be chartered with ICE, or IStructE or equivalent or progressing towards chartership.
  • Additionally you will:
  • Be experienced in structural investigations and reporting of low-rise to medium rise residential, and ideally tall buildings in a range of materials and structural form
  • Be experienced in the identification, reporting and repair of building defects
  • Be experienced in structural investigation and reporting in relation to building structural safety and ideally ‘Building Safety Act’
  • Be experienced in the design of foundations, masonry, concrete including detailing, steel and timber structures to eurocodes
  • Be experienced in the residential market including traditional construction as well as framed structures
  • Ideally be familiar with Tekla software (Tekla designer and Tedds) and AutoCAD/Revit
  • Previous management experience would be advantageous
  • Have the ability to make decisions
  • Be motivated with initiative and comfortable with autonomy with an appetite to drive innovation

Responsibilities

  • Structural Investigation and reporting on a range of building structures from residential to commercial of varying materials and structural form
  • Assist Operations Director / Director in development of structural investigation services
  • Assist Associate Director / Director in management of structural engineering team
  • Independent management of projects / project team
  • Financial responsibility for your own projects
  • Preparation of fee quotations / Invoicing
  • Management of staff and other consultants
  • Working in collaboration with senior stakeholders and clients
  • Site visits and undertake structural surveys, investigation and repair schemes for structures from fires to foundation issues
