Responsibilities

  • Supervises the process of Operating Room turnover process
  • Manages Turn Over Team staff on a daily basis to ensure quality, scheduling and efficient staffing.
  • Manages supply technician team on a daily basis to ensure supplies are restocked and available. Maintains schedules and staffing for this team.
  • Manages record keeping processes to ensure appropriate records necessary to effectively manage the Surgery inventory levels. Sustains records both manually and with the on-line Automated materials Financial Inventory system (AMS).
  • Verifies that vendor managed inventory is being maintained appropriately by vendors.
  • Evaluates and provides coaching to Turn Over Team and supply technicians
  • Adheres to federal, state, and NMHS policies/procedures, guidelines and laws.
  • Manages departmental compliance with various regulatory accrediting bodies (ex, OSHA, JCAHO, AL State Dept. Health, Financial Auditing institutions) to assure sound management of the department.
  • Interviews, hires and trains new members of the turnover team and supply technicians.
  • Conducts performance reviews in a timely fashion
  • Works collaboratively with Surgical Administrator, Team Coordinators, and Surgeons/Surgical staff to ensure patient and all staff needs are met.
  • Interacts one-on-one to with Surgeons and Surgical staff to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Responsible for meeting with vendor to assist with product and supply concerns.
  • Responsible for assisting with locating suitable substitution products due to backorders.
  • Responsible for working with team leads, vendors and physicians regarding new products entering the department.
  • Works with Materials Manager to endure a smooth year end inventory process for all surgical and anesthesia inventories. Works with internal auditing to ensure accuracy and provides report out on discrepancies.
  • Monitors supply usage variances and reports fluctuation to Materials Manager
  • Identifies cost savings opportunities and engages appropriate teams to evaluate
  • Ensures appropriate and timely charging of all supplies from inventory to department at time of consumption
  • Makes recommendations on changes to physical storage locations of inventory to increase efficiencies.
