Requirements

  • Exposure to systems design and/or assurance activities
  • Understanding of systems engineering methodologies and systems engineering lifecycle
  • Exposure or knowledge of T26 or GCS programmes (or experience with assurance activities on other platforms or sectors)
  • Exposure or knowledge of Naval Ships Zonal Review and Compartment Plan Approval processes
  • Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution
  • Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Design Assurance Manager in the conduct of the various assurance activities that assess the design maturity of the product
  • Support the implementation of design assurance mechanisms that provide data to the Chief Engineer and Technical Authorities, such as developing the associated review checklists and managing toolsets
  • Supplying guidance and support to the wider engineering team to enable the successful conduct of key assurance processes
  • Supporting with the progression of Zonal Review and Compartment Plan Approval processes, ensuring the design assurance strategy, design resilience and the integrity of the design is met
  • Supporting on the strategic development of processes, embodiment of ‘Learning from Experience’ and adaption of the assurance approach in response to emerging technical risk and evolving programme needs
  • Working towards personal and professional development, including stakeholder relationships across the business
